Fortaleza do Monte is Portuguese for "mount fortress". It was built in the 16th century by the Jesuits, to defend their property and later it was used to defend whole Macau (source). I started the tour from the Ruins of St. Paul's. I saw a nice little temple near by and went down to check it out. It was a small Buddhist and Taoist temple called Na Tcha temple, built in 1888.
The Grand Lisboa hotel and casino, seen almost from every spot in Macau.
Stairs are leading down and back to the Ruins of St. Paul's, my initial point.
Going to the Fortaleza do Monte is definitely a must, when you're visiting Macau. You have a great view of the city and it's very near the famous Ruins of St. Paul's. I decided to take a longer walk and explore some parts of Macau located around the fortress. It was really a great tour. If you want a better orientation, check my big Macau map (link below). The tour is marked with green dots.
